Mid West Major Projects Conference
Luke Barber, Project Manager for the Mid West Wind Farm, recently had the opportunity to attend the 5th Mid West Major Projects Conference supported by the Mid West Development Commission in Perth.
The conference brought together senior leaders from industry, investment, government, and community groups to explore the region’s future. There was a focus on growth, investment, diversification, the energy transition, and collaboration within the Mid West.
The event provided a valuable platform to reconnect with key stakeholders and engage in meaningful discussions about ongoing and upcoming opportunities. It was particularly encouraging to see the strong emphasis on partnership and shared learning as the region continues to evolve.
Looking ahead,
The Project is excited to continue these conversations at the upcoming Mid West Annual Economic Forum on 3 June 2026 where Luke will be part of the Energy Transition Panel.
This year’s theme, “One Region Shaping Our Future Together,” reflects the collaborative mindset that is driving regional progress. The forum promises to deliver practical insights across a wide range of sectors, including government policy, industry, logistics, tourism, manufacturing, education, and housing - ensuring valuable takeaways for businesses across the Mid West.
Over the past two years,
The team has been actively progressing environmental and field studies, laying the groundwork for the next phase of the Project. With this work nearing completion, the Project is well positioned to submit a development application, along with state and federal referrals, later this year. We look forward to continuing to engage with stakeholders as we move into this exciting stage.
The Mid West Wind Farm is gearing up to unlock regional capability and investment pathways that can support and accelerate other renewable energy developments in the future. By contributing to the broader energy ecosystem, the Project aims to play a key role in enabling the Mid West’s transition to a sustainable and diversified energy future.
