Community Consultation

As Australia transitions its energy generation to renewable sources, Vestas is committed to working respectfully alongside the communities in which it operates.

Mid West Wind Farm intends to develop, build and operate the proposed wind farm, which means we want to be part of the community now and for the next generation. Vestas has been engaging with the Yamatji Southern Regional Corporation, local councils, industry and landholders within the project footprint.

Our goal is to build long-term relationships between the project team, the local community and all project stakeholders. This happens through effective two-way engagement which allows us to understand local insights and work together to address any concerns.

We provide regular updates, which you can subscribe to using the form at the end of this page. You can contact us at any time to discuss the project. We also provide notice of upcoming community information sessions on this website, which will occur as the project progresses through development.

We welcome visits to our project shopfront at 1 Wiebbe Hayes Lane, in Geraldton open by appointment.

Finally, you can use the link below to complete a feedback form.

Your feedback will help us understand local sentiment and assist in planning the project. We’d love to hear from you!

Benefits

The project will deliver significant benefits to the local region and its communities, including:

Increasing economic stimulus through an estimated $1 billion invested into the Mid West Region.

Supporting the community through benefit-sharing, increasing local tourism, or supporting art initiatives.

Providing support for local conservation and biodiversity protection initiatives.

Up to 350 new jobs expected to be created during construction, and around 10 long-term service jobs created during project operation to be based in the local area.

The Mid West Wind Farm team are committed to contributing positively to the community. As we move through the early stages of development, our current budget for community initiatives is limited. We are focusing on supporting activities that directly benefit the most likely impacted communities, particularly in the City of Greater Geraldton, and shires of Irwin and Mingenew.

The ideas and initiatives we support now will help shape a larger Community Benefit Agreement (CBA), which will be established once the project receives development approval and construction begins. The Agreement funds will be proportionate to the project’s scale and impacts, and tailored to local needs. We will follow community-driven projects to deliver long-term social, environmental, and economic benefits.

We appreciate your understanding and continued engagement as we work closely with communities to ensure the benefits of this project are meaningful and lasting.
